چکیده

Some monospecies age class models, as well as specific multi-species models (with so-called technical interactions), exhibit useful monotonicity properties. This paper deals with discrete time monotone bioeconomic dynamics in the presence of state and control constraints. In practice, these latter " acceptable configurations " represent production and preservation requirements to be satisfied for all time, and they also possess monotonicity properties. A state x is said to belong to the viability kernel if there exists a trajectory, of states and controls, starting from x and satisfying the constraints. Under monotonicity assumptions, we present upper and lower estimates of the viability kernel. This helps delineating domains where a viable management is possible. Numerical examples, in the context of fisheries management, for the Chilean sea bass (Dissostichus eleginoides) and Alfonsino (Beryx splendens) are given.

Viable states for monotone harvest models

This paper deals with the control of discrete-time dynamical, monotone both in the state and in the control, in the presence of state and control monotone constraints. A state x is said to belong to the viability kernel if there exists a trajectory, of states and controls, starting from x and satisfying the constraints. Under monotonicity assumptions, we present upper and lower estimates of the...

Bioeconomic Approaches to Sustainable Management of Natural Tropical Forests

Bioeconomic models are idealized representations of human-nature interactions used to describe how the decisions that people make regarding the harvest of biological resources affect the future condition of resource stocks and the flow of net economic benefits. This modeling approach posits an assumed goal or objective that a decision-maker seeks to optimize subject to a set of biological const...

An Analysis of A Fishing Model with Nonlinear Harvesting Function

In this study, considering the importance of how to exploit renewable natural resources, we analyzea shing model with nonlinear harvesting function in which the players at the equilibrium pointdo a static game with complete information that, according to the calculations, will cause a wasteof energy for both players and so the selection of cooperative strategies along with the...

Spatial bioeconomics under uncertainty

The combination of a randomly fluctuating environment and dispersal of biological organisms calls into question the adequacy of traditional bioeconomic models, the vast majority of which are both deterministic and aspatial. Perhaps for this reason, economists have been largely silent on recent policy debates surrounding fisheries management in a complex environment. In particular, much of the s...

CAN WE STABILIZE FISHERIES’BENEFITS FROM A FLUCTUATING STOCK? A Bioeconomic Assessment of the Pacific Whiting Fishery

Pacific whiting (Merluccius productus), a commercially valuable fish species in the Pacific coast groundfish fishery, experiences extreme variability in annual recruitment. This variability causes fluctuations in stock abundance and subsequent catch and economic benefits. This study develops a stochastic bioeconomic model of the Pacific whiting fishery in order to assess various fishing strateg...
